Stump Grinding in Rosemont, CA
We grind stumps and clear trees and lots across Rosemont, working out of our base in Roseville.

Rosemont sits in Sacramento County, and we serve it from Roseville. We do not have an office in Rosemont. If you have a stump, a dead tree or a cluttered lot, we can come out, look at it and tell you what the job involves.
Stump grinding on Rosemont lots
Rosemont is a census-designated place of about 4.4 square miles, all of it land, with 23,510 residents at the 2020 census. That is a lot of people in a small area, which points to residential yards where a stump sits close to a fence, a patio, a house wall or a sprinkler line. Those details decide how we do the job more than the size of the stump does.
Stumps close to fences, patios and walls
A grinder cuts a wide arc as the cutting wheel sweeps side to side. Near a block wall or a wood fence we work in smaller passes and leave a margin, so the wheel never touches the structure. If a stump is jammed against a wall, we tell you before we start what can be ground and what will be left.
Roots, sprinklers and buried lines
Most of a stump's mass is at the surface, but the roots run outward just under the lawn. Grinding the main root flares keeps new shoots and lumps from showing up later. Tell us where your sprinkler heads and irrigation lines run, and call 811 if you plan any digging of your own afterward. Shallow lines are the most common thing a grinder can damage.
Stump grinding, tree removal and lot clearing in Rosemont
We offer three main services in Rosemont. Which one you need depends on what is standing, what is left, and what you want the ground to do next.
Stump grinding for what is already cut
If the tree is gone and the stump remains, stump grinding is the job. The wheel chews the stump below grade, usually several inches down and often deeper where you plan to plant. It leaves a pile of wood chips that we can haul or backfill into the hole. Oak, palm and other hard or fibrous stumps all take different amounts of time.
Tree removal for what is still standing
A dead, leaning or storm-damaged tree has to come down in sections before anything can be ground. Tree removal covers trimming, dead tree removal, hazard assessments and chipping the branches. Near houses and power lines we take the tree down in pieces rather than dropping it whole.
Lot clearing for overgrown ground
If the problem is a whole lot rather than one tree, lot clearing covers shrubs, hedges, brush and small trees, including defensible space clearing and ground prep before construction. Stump grinding is often the last step, once the trees and brush are out.
What a stump grinding visit looks like
We start with a look at the stump and the path to it. We check the gate width, the slope of the yard, and what is nearby that could be hit by flying chips. Then we agree on the scope with you: how deep to grind, whether the roots are included, and what happens to the chips.
Setting up and grinding
We lay out the machine, mark any sprinkler heads you pointed out, and shield what we can, such as a window or a fence panel. The grinder works from the top of the stump down, then follows the roots out as far as agreed.
Cleanup and backfill
When the grinding is done, we rake the chips. You can have them hauled away, left as mulch for a bed, or used to fill the hole. Backfilled chips settle over the following months as they break down, so add soil on top if you plan to lay sod or plant.
Grinding a stump versus pulling it out
Digging a stump out leaves a large crater and tears up the lawn around it. Grinding leaves the roots below the surface to rot slowly, which is fine for turf, a flower bed or a small shrub. If you plan to pour a footing or put in a new tree in exactly the same spot, tell us. That changes how deep and how wide we grind, and some of the larger roots may need to come out.
